Storm Roll Over the Jr. Spitfires
Saturday
September 26th the Storm played the Windsor Jr Spitfires.
Over the past 2 seasons the Storm have not been able to pull a win against the Jr Spits. At the drop of the puck you knew the Storm was out to seek revenge for all of the past losses. Although the play was end to end and with many of scoring chances, the first period ended with no scoring by either team. Around the six minute mark in the second period the Spits drew the first goal. Reyth Smith answered back only 2 minutes later with a beauty goal, tying the period at 1-1. The Storm sustained a lot of pressure on their rivals and finally, their hard work paid off. Just under six minutes left in the 3rd the storm took the lead with a goal from Nevan Branco. The Storm put up with two more goals with, the first one coming from Ben Buchner and then Smith with his second of the game. This put the icing on the cake resulting in a 4-1 win from the Storm. Assists in the game came from Branco (2),Pezzotti (2), Merritt and Coughlin . Great game played by all, but Nevan Branco received the yellow hard hat, earning player of the game honours, for his tenacious back checking and popping the game winning goal.
