The
Erie North Shore Atom Minors took on the Amherstburg Stars on Thursday October
30th in a very disappointing effort.
The Storm couldn’t seem to “FINISH” the plays that their teammates initiated and fell 2-0 to their arch rivals. Amherstburg was hungry for the win and the Storm let them have the puck and consequently the victory. Notable saves were notched by Ari Q in net, effective passes were executed by Cole K, Kohen C and Ty M and shots were attempted by Michael H, Ty H, Nico S and Cale M.
All were hoping for a recovery on Sunday November 2nd – and they weren’t disappointed. The Michigan Ice Hawks traveled to Kingsville to meet Erie North Shore and a revitalized Storm took to the exhibition ice. Cale M initiated the excitement with a great backhand shot which was saved by the Ice Hawks net minder. Ty M rushed off the bench to take a quick shot which was followed up by a fantastic backcheck by Nico S. Kohen and Ty H worked collaboratively to clear a puck from our crease. The Storm went into the second period up 1-0 when AJ D picked the corner off a pass from Michael H.
At 3:22 in the second Owen Bu (assisted by Nico S and Aaron R) sent a blister from the blue line that found the back of the net. The Ice Hawks answered with a goal soon after. Nico S would later score assisted by Ty M and Aaron R to put the Storm up 3-1. Colin R made an incredible save with both his D-men down and with 3 attackers coming at him.
In the 3rd, Cole K capitalized on a shot from Owen Bu that went wide of the net and bounced off the boards to put the Storm up 4-1. Michigan scored on a deflection later in the period. Matteo R and Nick W collaborated to deny many chances by the Ice Hawks during the last period. Ellie M and Owen Ba were extremely effective at clearing the puck in the waning minutes to stave off any attack from the opposition. A much better effort in this 4-2 victory.
